The National Alternative Employment and Livelihood Programme for illegal miners (NAELP) is an initiative of the Government of Ghana under the auspices of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.
MORE INFORMATIONOur overarching mission is to design and implement pathway programmes for illegal miners and those whose livelihoods have been affected by the government’s operations against illegal mining activities.
We aim to provide sustainable alternative livelihoods for illegal miners and people affected by the sanitization of the mining sector while restoring lands that were negatively impacted by illegal mining activities in Ghana.
“This Programme seeks to mitigate the unavoidable and unintended hardships which our efforts to sanitise the small-scale mining sector have created, particularly in the five regions where Operation Halt II was carried out. It is intended to provide good economic livelihood options to the illegal mining and associated activities, to enable those adversely impacted to work and support themselves and their families.” H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
